If it has to do with a closing it’s fine, otherwise people can make their own decisions based on word-of-mouth. Using a site where people share experiences and ask information based on personal issues is a dirty maneuver. You don’t see other places like Miss Janets and The Cabin filling up guestbooks to contest with this crap, which says something about tact. Wish people the best of luck with their hikes… leave the advertising back in corporate America.

I don’t like it. I updated the guest book page last week and added:
“This guest book is for personal use, no solicitations please”
I hope this helps some. Journalist can also deleted unwanted messages posted to their guest book.

Just acouple days ago I sent a friendly e-mail to offenders to let them know I don’t like it.If everyone against it let them know I’m sure they would apreciate the feedback.

They’re advertising, and nothing more. The Hiker isn’t looking in the journalsite guestbook for lodging tips, anyways! What’s next? Will SoandSo’s hostel slam you for staying at SuchandSuch’s place?
Sheesh…
