You may want to try asking on the ultra runners e-list:

Though the list is geared more towards supported “runs”, many of the subscribers of the list do what some people call “fastpacking”. I suspect the people on the list may know the current reported fastest time for a non-supported hike.
The AZT is not as well known as some other trails, so there may not be a known record…official or otherwise.

That wasnt skurka, that was yours truly. However I just met up with Skurka on his Great Western Loop and the miles he’s logging would demolish the old speed records. He did mention how tough the AZ trekking was though

Does that mean Skurka will be attempting the AZT speed record in 08?

Not that he mentioned, I don’t think that he’ll return to the AZT. He was logging 35+ mile days though, that guy can haul
