Spring in the Berkshires?

I,m planning a one week hike on the A.T., in the southern Berkshires, MA. March 21,

Wondering if the snow will be gone?? I’m a section hiker. If there is too much snow, I could do a section in Virginia.I’m not sure which direction to go.
Any advice?

8 days from now the odds at finding snow there is close to 100%. Just for fun, google up today's weathercams in towns on both the Mass side and the NY side of the Berkshires. The entire region has more than 2 feet of snow on the ground. Virginia is nice. You can't beat the stunning views in SNP.

Doubtful that it will all be gone, but depending on the weather it could be a lot less than the 2 feet mentioned. I know our depth (we're about 45 min from Pittsfield on the NY side) has shrunk substantially in the last week or so, and even some patches of grass have started to re-appear.

Forecast is for low 40’s most of the next 7 days for highs (which should help melting), but for rain this weekend, which may turn into some (light) snow in the mountainous areas, so it might add another 2 or 3 inches to the AT area(s).

No matter what, it will be sloppy. What isn't slush will be mud or a swamp. Very, very bad idea to hike in that area this time of year. Wait 2 more months.

Thanks guys I've decided to go to Virginia.Pinnacles parking area, to Bears Den. 67 miles. We'll finish MA, in the fall.

Great choice Ive done that section in VA. this time of year and it is beautiful. Flowers starting to bloom at lower elevation. Temps are great and no bugs. Try and do MA. around late Sept early Oct. the foliage will be starting and again the temps are cooling down.
