Squeaky completed on 12/29. There is a great video of him finishing posted at http://homepage.mac.com/herm222/iMovieTheater18.html. It appears like he walked 239.5 days (almost 8 months) for 7530 miles (2655 pct, 2700 cdt, 2175 at) for an all out average of 31.44 miles per day but he will have to post the official numbers.

Hear a podcast interview with Squeaky, from Miss Janet’s House in Erwin, TN

www.trailcast.org

Hearing him tell his story is worth the (free) download.

Just a quick update to let you all know Squeaky is doing well, relaxing in Miami on New Years Eve, at a party where he was at the Chocolate Fountain eating Profitarols (spelt wrong) all night, now up at Fortlauderdale for a few days, he is sleeping at present but will be back on line soon.
Thanks for all the good wishes you guys are all amazing with all your good wishes etc.

Congrats to Squeaky on a great accomplishment! I just don’t understand why it says he “won” the triple crown…It’s not a race or a competition. It’s just hiking! Hope it was just a poor choice of words

Merriam-Webster defines “win” in part as “to get possession of by effort”, “to reach by expenditure of effort”.

If hiking over 30 miles per day for nearly 8 months is not enough effort:), then read Squeaky’s journal entry for the Sierra, especially Forester Pass, describing his struggles of being the first to enter the Sierra this year. His journal also mentions floods in the hundred mile wilderness and snowstorms on the AT. Squeaky put in effort and reached his goal!

I think Hermann & Barbara’s choice of words on their web site is great!
