Hi,
If I plan on hiking 30 miles per day, would you recommend leaving campo in april or may considering snow levels in the Sierras? Thanks.

It depends. Are you going to start at and sustain that pace? How about town stops and zero days? If you leave in late April, chances are you’ll get to Kennedy Meadows in late May or early June at that pace. In '05 I left on April 25th, normally did about 20-25 miles per day, took 6 or 7 zeros and got to KM on June 4. If you waited until mid-May you’ll probably hit the Sierras in mid-late June, but your chances for hotter weather in SoCal and fewer water sources increase. As of now, it doesn’t look like snow levels are going to be a big concern, unless we get some good spring storms, which we desperately need. I can’t actually recommend one way or another. Hope this info helps you decide though.
