Hello all,

My roommate and i are hiking from Copper Mnt. (sec 8) to Buena Vista (sec 12) We are starting om july 17th and hope to be done by the 23rd. It seems that picking up the trail here is somewhat mysterious. Although the book gives several options i was wondering if anyone has done this section and could shed a little light on the subject? Where does the CT cross hwy-91? is it easier to go to union creek area and pick up the trail there? Any info would be appreciated? thanks all and happy hiking

from where you get off of 70 its maybe a mile down the road there is a small pull off on the right and a parking area on the left there is also a trail marker on the right side. also on the right side there is a small half built building that the trail goes just to the left of. good luck

I just used Google Earth via the CTF website to see this place on the CT. Worked great - the CT crossing of Hwy 91 shows up really well. Worth a try.

www.ColoradoTrail.org Top right see the news about The Colorado Trail now on Google Earth. Click there and you’ll find the page that explains it. Free - you don’t need any more than the free version of Google Earth and the CT line file.

In GE, I opened the CT folder and found “Trailheads and Segments.” Clicked on Segment 8 and it zoomed to this exact location. You can see right where the Trail crosses the road.
