Starting in September

I am starting my first section hike in September. I will be doing the approach trail from Amicalola Falls State Park and hiking thru Georgia. I then plan on returning next Spring to pick up where I leave off this fall. Any idea on how busy the trails are this time of year (Fall)

I am going to try and leave around September 18th. I was hoping to pass by some Thru hikers heading south.

....you should be able to enjoy a little "solitude" in that section in september (as the hikers out for fall foliage won't be hiking yet and, i think, most sobos will still be a little bit north?).....i think the goal for many of the southbound hikers is to finish by thanksgiving, though it's definitely possible that a few of them may be rollin' in there in october......do check out the "water" info before you go, as it can be pretty dry that time of year in georgia!.....ENJOY your "shakedown"!
