Starting on the weekend vs a Monday?

Starting this weekend or Monday.

Will the crowds be less at Springer if I begin on a Monday or does it really matter?

Doesn’t really matter. You’ll catch up to people and others will catch up to you.

Generally speaking, many people go backpacking on the weekend. So, no matter where you are on the AT, or on osme other trails, expect to share shelters with weekenders on Friday night, and especially Saturday night. Unless it’s a long weekend, Sunday night will be like a week night.

Laurie P. at ATC said that there are certain prime starting dates - the 1st and 15th of the month are big and Saturdays. If you want to have fewer people for the first couple of weeks, start mid-week.

When does it matter when you leave. Get your ass up and go. You can’t get there by staying here. GO, GO, and just GO and don’t stop untill you get where you want to be. God bless and God speed 2005 :boy
