Staying in Hiawassee?

I have the thru-hikers’ companion and I plan to stop in Hiawassee to resupply and stay. I considered the Blueberry Patch Hostel, but this time of year I’m sure it will be packed. Has anyone stayed at either the Hiawassee Inn or Mull’s Motel? Out of the two, which is the better place to stay?

Thanks.

Last year, I hitched a ride into Hiawassee and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Not sure if it is more expensive, but the hot tub is nice on the sore legs. they also have laundry facilities and give you free cookies when you check in.

Ms. Wood at Mull’s Motel has been putting up hikers longer than anyone in town. The Holiday Inn is more expensive. The Hiawassee Inn has changed hands about 6 times in 17 years so I don’t know much about it plus it’s a half mile walk or more to the PO and grocery and restaurants.

Thanks Wolf, I think I’ll stay there. The Holiday Inn looks inviting, but at almost double the price I’ll have to pass.

Thanks again.

The Hiawassee Inn was OK last year.
Right next to DQ, but a bit of a walk to Georgia Mtn. restaurant. (they have good food and good prices)
Try Johnnies (I think) for breakfast.
Mull’s is closer to groceries and the Ga. Mtn. Restaurant

A nice little town, but easier to get in than get out!
Ever seen the movie ‘Doc Hollywood’?
