Steven's Pass, WA: Trail Report

#1

Was just on the PCT at Steven’s Pass.

You might have already guessed that is was snowed-over. In fact, it was snowing today there. I post-holed quite a bit up to my knees.

You might have heard about the low snow amounts in Washington. That is real. But there has been a good amount the last two weeks. More than the entire winter, locals said. They just opened the ski slopes, but the snow amounts are still low.

Implications obviously include a possible good year for a southbound hike. But I would still watch the snow levels from here on out. This may the year.

Also, the restaurant Skykomish’s Cascadia Inn is open and serving great food. The other resaurant on HWY 2 is now closed. But rest easy, there is still 1 restaurant in town. In fact, it’s a step up.

Ask Emmy the waitress for some Mama Wanna. Tell her I sent you.

Thanks for the report Wookie. I am watching the snow levels closely through Washington. I have a southbound stretch from Manning to Oregon coming up in a couple months. You probably know about this link, but I check it often. While I want no water problems this summer, I could stand to see the snow stop anytime now…
