Storing extra food after MTR

For those of you resupplying for the entire ten days to Whitney from MTR, how did you store your food that didn’t fit in your canister at night?

I could fit about 8 days worth in the can–I rented a Bearikade Expedition so it was big. Of the 2 remaining days, 1 I carried and ate that day and the other was just in a separate bag at night that I hung. I never had any issues the whole trip with bears although I did see a camper chase 1 away in the Tuolumne campground.

I was able to fit 10 days of food + 1 extra day of food in my Bear Vault. I dehydrated all of my own meals, and this saved a lot of space.

I hung it in a tree. I also stealth camped and did not cook food in my camp on those nights.

I too overflowed so I carried a small bear bag to store my overflows into and just hung it away from camp and did not cook in my camp.

I placed my toiletries in the bear bag and thus had room for food in my canister. The section after MTR does not require a canister. So you can probably get away with a night or two of bagging it. Check the regs for which sections after MTR require a canister.
