Hey folks, got a question. I've got a Pocket Rocket stove, is there a windguard made for them?....the outfitter stores I've been to don't have anything....thanks...

No MSR does not make a windscreen for the pocket rocket. Where are you planning to use the pocket rocket in a hurricane? I used it for my thru hike and never used a windscreen. It is so hot it does not need one. If you really want to you could make a windscreen for it you could use tinfoil but I don’t think it needs it.

There's a reason they don't make windscreens for the Pocket Rocket. It would create a huge liablility problem for MSR. The canister can get way too hot when using a windscreen, expecially in warm weather, and blow up! In cold windy weather a windscreen can be of help, but be very careful. I use a titanium screen I got from Backpackinglight.com (http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/titanium_foil_windscreen_large.html), but when using a canister stove, I keep half of it open. If you can't put your hand on the cansiter because it's too hot, then you need to open up or remove the windscreen.

you can make a windscreen out of the bottom of an aluminum turkey pan.
BUT as been said above, you really don’t need one, and yes, that does make the canister too hot. you rarely will find yourself in any wind strong enough to blow the flame out. i think i had to relite my stove all of twice. if you’re camping on a bald or something like that, you can always just sit on the windward side of your stove while you’re cooking or at the side of a tree. or you can just cook inside the shelter, which everyone pretty much does. don’t worry, you’ll be fine.
