Stove fuel - John Muir Trail

I am planning a JMT through hike next August and was wondering about getting fuel at resupply points. I would like to take my MSR propane canister stove but do not know if I can pick up fuel at Yosemite and farther up the trail in resupply. My second choice would be my alcohol stove but have the same issues with fuel, can I get alcohol at Yosemite and further up the trail? I do have a white gas stove and assume that white gas is available but can you buy it by the ounce or will they only sell you a full can?

Canister fuel has, as recently as summer of 2008, been available at Yosemite, Vermillion Valley Resort, and Muir Trail Ranch. It might be available at the Red’s Meadow Store also.

Thanks Mark V. This makes my life much easier.

Canisters are normally available at usual resupply points as
markv said. I say normally because last year my hiking partner planned to get a canister at Vermillion and they had run out. It was a fluke of circumstances but things do happen. I used a little less than 3 canisters on a 24 day JMT thru. Knowing what I know today about conserving fuel I could probably due it on 2.

Esbit tablets are a good fuel back-up option. Red Meadows should have white gas since campers (ie. trailers) frequent the place.
