Strip Map - Appalachian Trail

I decided to make a poster of the AT - sort of a strip map showing where shelters and roads and other good stuff are. So, I spent many-many hours this weekend coming up with a draft. After I mess with it a while more I will get a graphic artist to make it look good. Take a look. You can find it by going to http://www.d2p3.com/map.htm

The map is a huge jpg image (18" wide), so you may have to download it (right click and “save as”) to really see it. It opens up just fine in Photoshop. Note that I did not save it at highest resolution - the file would be monstrous. When finally printed, 18" is probably too narrow.

I found as I was drafting that I had to make some arbitrary decisions about what to include. But, I took special care to make sure the mileages came out OK. (I also found - surprise - that the ALDHA book and Wingfoot don’t always agree.)

Send me good suggestions (dexter_perkins@und.edu) and I will put you on the list to get a free map when this project is done.
