Symbol on a boot

I am wondering if anyone can help me to identify a symbol branded into a boot. My brother passed away long ago but he had some hiking boots with 2 brands on them that were done with a branding Iron. One sympol is a P5 or PS and the other side is an S with a slanted line next to it. I am just trying to find out where he might have been. Please email me if you know. chris at revivalhomes dot com

Hah! I also had those two brands on the toes of each of my hiking boots. Unfortunately, when those boots wore out, I had to throw them away. So, I'm guessing your brother was a boy scout or a boy scout leader? Those two brands were likely the "Bar P Crazy S" and "Slash Crazy S" and are the horse and cattle ranch brands for the Boy Scouts of America's National Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. He probably went on the 2-week crew trek and during his visit was given a branding demo and an offer to brand some pieces of his gear.

Which is called Philmont. I branded mine in 1991.
