getting someone to talk about there thru hike
I am a boy scout leader and I think it would be kind of cool if A thru hiker was willing to talk to the boys, maybe give a slide show and a deminstation if possible. I live in westchester NY. I would be willing to pay or feed you for your time. If this is somthing you would be willing to do. I would be really thankful.

I’d love to but I’m kinda stuck in Europe for the moment (yeah, I know it sucks ).

I second Nokia. I will be in the area in the late summer, and would love to talk to fellow scouts. Though I would also need a ride. I am hiking with a dog, which might be a problem for you, though.
Helium
The only problem with that is during the summer month the scout are not a round. It would need to be before like June.

If you contact the Superintendant at Liberty State Park in Jersey City N J [mr osowski] he may very well be able to help you out. He has given these type of talks before and has himself thru hiked along with at least one other staff member that I am aware of. I dont think that is too far from where you are at. Good Luck…D
The Desperado
HeeHaw, a 19 year old SOBO from New York City, completed the hike in mid December 2005. His journal is http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=122516. The second to last entry he said that on their drive back from Georgia they dropped their rental car off at a location next door to his mother’s cafe on the Upper West Side of New York City. He might do the talk for you. Look him up.
