Tell dog to meet me on the other side?

I am starting my thru-hike May 2nd. I wasn’t planning to bring my dog, Happy, but now he has to go. I was wondering if anybody has ideas about getting him around the Smokies(other than stealth hiking). Happy hiking.

Ted do not try to stealth hike the Smokies with your dog. You will definitly be caught and it will screw up your hike. There are some people who will meet you at Fontana Dam and board your dog while you go through and meet you on the other side (for a fee of course). I hiked with Otto in 2000 who arranged the dog pickup with some woman in 2000. She told him that she would be at the other end on a certain time and date and would only wait an hour. This meant no slacking off and the dog pickup dictated his pace. He had a great dog though and felt it was worth it to hike with her.

ride your dog through the smokies. tie him up to the horse racks at night and insist that he is a horse.
