Temps, flies, anything else

Might still squeeze in a section in Virginia this year, either Shens or heading north or south out of Damascus for 75-100 miles, very late June or July time period.

Questions are: expected temps, flies and other insects and what to expect, reliable water sources, etc. Feedback appreciated

Re: Shenandoah.

Late June/early July you could have very hot days but tolerable nights; if you hit it just right maybe comfortable days and cooler nights. So far, lack of water is not an issue with the exception of Blackrock Hut where for reasons not known the usually gushing piped spring is barely dripping. There will be insects, but nothing like the black flies up in Yankeedom. Just bring some Deet, use it as needed, and you should be fine.
