OK, so I have a super lightweight tent, and I’m trying to go light (base pack weight of about 20 lbs) overall, and wondered what people use for tent stakes. Metal? Plastic? Other?
Thanks,
Stark

Ti stakes. Check out REI. They sell them in a package of 6. They are almost indestructable.

I haven’t thru’d yet, but all the places I’ve hiked on the AT so far have been full of either rocks or downed branches. If you can tie off to one of those, or to a bush or tree nearby, you’ll save yourself the weight of 6 stakes.
I carry two of the cheap-o Walmart stakes - cost about $1.50 for a pack of 4. I use them as the pot-holder for my stove, and have only used them a few times as tent stakes. I like rocks best - adjustments are easiest that way!

I bought my tent stakes from Lynne Wheldon at LWGear.com.
They are titanium and light as a feather! I loved 'em and will be using them again this year!

Backcountrygear.com has a big variety of tent stakes made of different materials. I just bought 6 inch titanium stakes on sale for $2.89 each. Ten stakes weigh 2.4 ounces! They also have 7 inch titanium stakes that are more heavy duty. They cost $2.94 each and weigh 4.2 ounces for ten.
