Any input on the Kelty Vortex Webforce tent would be appreciated. Any good/ weight etc.

I have the Vortex 4 which I use for car/canoe camping. It is not too heavy considering its enormous size (8.5 lbs., 60 ft+), and I have walked it into a few hike-in sites that were less than a mile away. The thing is bomber when all guyed out with the FlyBoy attachments. I flat out LOVE the pole design: 2 of identical length (interchangeable), with continuous sleeves that are sewn shut on one end, so you can just slide the poles in from one side, clip 'em in and the tent is up without having to circle it and swear as the first side pops back out on you. This design should be mandatory for all tents IMO. :-]

The two doors and vestibules are key when you have multiple humans and big wet dogs. The fly over the vestibule slants down sharply, meaning that the space is not as usable as it could be. Long-term durability is good so far, but Kelty cuts their prices & weight by using ‘less-than-bomber’ materials. I am just careful with it.

The 2-man model would not be a bad choice, if you have to carry a tent on the AT (and if you can find one, Kelty stopped making it). I usually tarp it on the Trail.
