Tents? - The Colorado Trail

I am trying to figure out what tent I should take on the trail. I have a clip-flashlight - not free standing or a Kelty Assult, a 4 season tent, but it is free standing. Anyone have any thought as to what might be better? Thanks.

On the AT last year i saw a wide variety of tents. i too used to have a clip flahlite (close to 5 lbs) but traded it for a walrus micro swift (approx 3.5 lbs) while thru hiking when the bugs got real bad in nj. while the micro switft is very small, lite, and aero-dynamic (due to its low hight it makes an excellent above tree line tent); it is tight, i cannot sit up in it and have to tweak my neck while crouching on my knees if i chose to move around. i think the best tent i saw last year, was the mtn hardware solitude, very similar set up to the clip flash lite but smaller and lighter. all that said, you probably aren’t planning on buying a new tent due to your december pink slip. i don’t think a free standing tent is terribly necessary, and a clip flashlite would be fine. i considered hiking with a tarp, but i think in colorado, where the t-storms can get pretty severe, a sturdy tent would be the safest bet.
