Nate and Sarah deserve this. I met them on the Colorado trail in the summer of '02. Not only are they both intelligent and kind, but also true adventurers.

Razor,

Thanks for the kind words, but we don't deserve anything. What's good about all of this is that is raises awareness for LD trails in general and spefically the West Coast Trail, which might play a vital role in preserving the West Coast. I encourage everyone to check out my journals and think about getting out there. If you can't, our book will be out next fall.

take care

Of all the trails, this one captures my imagination the most. I lived in California during my teens, and the beauty of the Pacific Coast is awesome.

Congrats Wookie and IM. Your journal is an inspiration. Not to mention the photos. In fact, I’ve resolved to leave the Louisiana heat next summer for at least a month and do part of the West Coast trail.

You’re going down in history! Keep hiking, Keep dreaming!

Rain Queen

Congrats on living the dream while giving back at the same time. Trying to do both is a hard thing to balance and the two of you do it gracefully and with humility.

A trail friend called the other day to say he saw this in USA today, but I couldn’t find it online. I hadn’t realized the reason for the news was that you guys had finished! Seems like just yesterday you were leaving. Congrats all around!! :cheers

I think you’re going up in history!
Way to go, wookie maybe you need to change trailname to “Earl II” Congratulations!

R.T.,

I appreciate the compliment but that is really going too far. We are no Earl in the least. We just walked the west coast, that's all. The significance is that so can you.

If anyone is interested, there should be a short interview we did with Morning America on CNN this Monday. The program runs from 7am-10am EST. I imagine it would run later in the show since the West Coast might be interested in it and there is a 3-hr. difference. Anyway, it might be interesting what they have to say, but I've learned they don't get everything right so keep that in mind.

If anyone wants help to plan a similar hike, let me know.

Wookie-Congrats to you and IM. I’ve followed all your journals and love the flow of your words and your carefully taken pictures. You seem to be a true student of nature; appreciating what lies around us and what is possible. Much credit for living life in an alternative way. I strive for the same.

I watched the CNN show and didn’t see coverage of your hike. Were you on it? Did anyone see it? I recorded it and was dissapointed to not find it.

Happy Hiking and see you out there eventually

A-train… Thanks for your kind statements.

I too watched the show and no, it wasn’t on there. They taped it in San Diego with us at a remote studio, but had to push it back as they covered the debate. I’m not sure when or if they are going to show it now. I saw bits and pieces of it on Headline News, but they might show the whole thing the next couple days, but it might be getting stale as a news piece. I hope they show it, so that more people get inspired to protect the coast.
