I’d like to take a moment and thank all of my AT “family” and friends for all the cards, letters, emails, gifts, and most of all,the friendships, you have bestowed on me over the last 5 years. It has been a pleasure sharing my home with you as you hiked. May this Holiday season find you all happy and successfull. Looking forward to Trail Days 06 and the reunion of friends and the making of new friends this coming year…AS EVER, Rob @ “the birdcage”

No, thank you.

For rescuing my friends and I from the rain.
For having made my friends feel so welcome that I knew I had to find out what the Birdcage was all about.
Thanks for the rest.

It was an extraordinary experience to meet with you and have the privilege of staying in your home. I would say that through all of my hiking experiences that yours ranks among the top ones.

I live on the west coast these days and doubt I will be making many Trail Days anymore. I wanted to say thanks and hope that you keep doing what you are doing for years. Miss you and hope you have a great Christmas.

Thank you Rob,
The time I spent at your house this year on my Thru will be remembered as one of the highlights. Singing and laughing the night away, fun times and great company. You are a gem… Paladin

OK – am I the only one who doesn’t know Rob Bird at the Birdcage? Please help me out here. I’ve hiked most of the southern AT to date, but I’m not familiar with him.
If Bob is a hostel owner, can you tell me where the Birdcage is? Thanks in advance!

Hey Rob,

Thanks again for helping out this old man in 2002! If things work out I’m planning another thru hike in 2007. Looking forward to staying again if you’ll have me. Merry Christmas and hope to see you again.

The Bird Cage is in Dalton, MA I believe. I didn’t stop by, but a lot of my friends did and said it rocked. They really enjoyed it.

Rob, I know your moving on to Tennessee soon and I know we will all miss you in Mass. Thank you for the wonderful memory. My son and I had the best stay at your house and you were so gracious and kind. Jonathan went onto finishing the trail partly due to you. Thank you, Pam
