THANKSGIVING in Erwin

This same time next week I will be up to my elbows in the pumpkin pie mix or the potato salad or something. This month has gone very fast! I have had lots of SoBo’s through in the last couple of weeks but I know that more are out there. If you know anyone that may be in the area next week, please let them know about Thanksgiving Dinner in Erwin at Miss Janet’s House. We will start eating about 1:00 and we eat until, well, until all the food is gone!! If anyone would like to join us please give me a email so I can count. You don’t have to be hiking.

THANKSGIVING in Erwin, it sounds like it could be a book title. If there is anything in our country that would reflect on what Thanksgiving is, I would put spending Thanksgiving Dinner at Miss Janet’s at the top of the list. Hikers share so many experinces on the trail. We share the same path, we share the same shelters, we hare the same bugs and mosqitoes, we share the same views, we share the same pains and same joys, we are one as we are many. Reading others’ journals, telling stories and adventures help bring us together as one. There are countless people along the trail that have enriched our experinces and Miss Janet is one. I pray that your gathing on Thanksgiving is is as wonderful as the blessings that you have given to others. May the food never run out. I will not be able to attend and I wiil not be able to send over any dresing. But I will send a small donations to offset the cost. Thank you for keeping the Spirit of Thanksgiving alive. Keep an empty chair for all those who cannot be with you that day.

Sounds like your typical fun time at Miss Janets. Don’t think that Grommie nor I would be able to make it (since we are hosting our family in Ohio). We both think that it is so great all the things that you do around the holiday’s for hikers…thanks Miss Janet.

PS…say hi to Goggles if he shows up!!! hehehe
