WONDERFUL PEOPLE — YOU MUST STAY THERE! I believe they had a fire in the fall of 2005. They rebuilt and just opened in time to host hikers in 2006. So unless they had another fire, they should be open!

Last year they had two RVs and tent space for hikers to stay. They have internet, showers, clothing (to wear while you’re there), a HOT TUB, will drive you into town to eat, and you can mail your mail drop to their house! Lovely people. We’re lucky to have them!

The Dinsmores are off the PCT in Washington state and are extremely kind and generous.

I was up in Washington in late October 06 didn’t reach the Dinsmores who at the time were open to hikers. But in early November there was some major flooding that may or may not have effected them. I would contact them directly and simply ask.

Yeah…they had a fire, followed by a flood that ripped through so many WA riverside communities last fall. Those items not withstanding, they have continued with their plans to build a two storey structure, the second floor to be a hiker bunkhouse. Plans and permits were already in and approved, I believe. But then there was a kerfuffel over the existing septic system and bathrooms in the proposed bunkhouse, so they’ve sunk money into replacing the old system. By now, I think the new slab had been poured, and the materials are on hand for the ground floor at least. But, between the fire, the flood and the septic problem, these sweet people need help as hiring carpenters is pricey. Jerry isn’t in the best of health at the moment, which doesn’t help matters. They’re hoping for sort of an on-going work party of hikers, starting right about now, and continuing til everything’s done. They provide all meals, and sleeping arrangements as best they can, BYO tent tho. I think they pretty much know they won’t see may folk from the Class of '07. There are, however, a bunch of members of other classes in and around northern WA and southern Canada that ought to be able to find a weekend or a few days midweek to donate to some of the greatest, most generous folks they’ve ever met. BYO tools as best you can, too.
Andrea can be reached at email address, which is a new one: zaqueltooocool@gmail.com, their phone number is: 360.677.1237. Andrea has asked me to help spread the word that they need help badly, you all can get the word out too, and some of you please, GO DO WHAT YOU CAN FOR THEM. Think of what they’ve done or will be doing for you.
Thanks all,
Georgi, Old Station T.A.
