If you are referring to the Four Pass Loop hike near Aspen. I would plan a trip in that area no earlier than the last part of June. Here is some information from ORIC:

My wife and I hiked Pine Valley Ranch Park Yesterday, a few miles north of Segment 3 of the Colorado Trail. There was no snow whatsoever, and very little ice. The ice was on the north-facing stair-step portion of the Parkview Trail, and was easily avoidable.
