I have heard of this event called “The Gathering”. I am not really sure what it is. Could anybody tell me what/where/when this is and if any aspiring thru hiker can go to it? Thanks.

The Gathering is the annual meeting of The Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association. The weekend-long meeting will take place this Columbus Day at Concord College in Athens, W.Va. The venue usually alternates between Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and West Virginia. Its a great weekend of slide shows & films on various long trails, forums on all aspects of planning a long hike, entertainment and more. check out www.aldha.org and the Gathering web page
