So I started again last Thursday at Breckenridge and now (Monday 6/30) I’m sitting in the Leadville hostel living the life. Here also are Homeless & Unemployed and T & T (that’s four thru-hikers total) and Julie from the Colorado Trail Foundation dropped in for the night as well. We got our picture taken for the Treadlines newsletter. Man, we’re famous. For those of you coming up behind, the Leadville Hostel gets a Cyclops thumbs up for hiker hospitality. 15 bucks a night, with 5 dollar all you can eat breakfast and the best pancakes west of the Mississippi, and Wild Bill gives shuttles back to the trail. I couldn’t believe my eye. There was some snow on the higher passes (tenmile, Searle to Kokomo, Tennessee to Hagerman), but it wasn’t too bad anymore and it’s on its’ way out. All the same I’m glad I took the week off or it could have been a different story. To say nothing of the weather, none of which involved water in it’s various states falling from the sky.
