I’m heading for Sept JMT thru-hike this year and am trying to determine how heavy and warm to go for my warmest layer. I’m planning on a SS light base layer with a LS light fleece on top. I have a Arcteryx LT Zip which works great. Is a good 3rd layer a heavier fleece jacket before my outer wind/rain shell? I like the warmth and lightness of down, but if I have to hike with it on due to bad weather, I don’t want to soke it with sweat.
Any thoughts for a good insulating layer?
Thanks in advance…
