Incredibley when I was in PA we heard that Elwood had been released and had been seen on the trail again! At the church hostel in DWG I talked to a ranger who was asking the hikers if anyone had seen the SOB. He has been legally banned from the AT. If he is caught on the trail he is subject to immediate arrest! Future AT hikers beware! Elwood may again in the future prey on unsuspecting hikers!
I’m still trying to get back my Tekka headlamp that they recovered at his arrest.

There were reports several weeks ago for hikers to be on the lookout for a southbound man on the trail. They said that this guy was using Elwoods same MO… sad stories and things disappearing when he was around. Some of the SOBO thruhikers recognized him from a picture I had of Elwood from this May. He was calling himself Zeke but the hikers were sure it was the same person. He seemed to be skipping the places where people knew him as Elwood. That was maybe 3 weeks ago so keep an eye out down towards the Smokeys and into Georgia. I am sure he has had a rough life but I don’t like him preying off of generous and caring hikers.
