Thru Hikers Handbook - A.T. Guide Merge

I just discovered the Thru Hikers Handbook (formerly the Wingfoot book) and AWOLS A.T. Guide have merged and only the A.T Guide will be published in 2011. I used the Handbook in 2006 and was very comfortable with it. I am not sure what year the AT Guide (formerly the AT Pages) was first published probably 2007 or 2008 but it didn’t exist when I thru hiked. From what I saw of the AT Guide I liked it. I think AWOL did his homework and publishes a good product. Just a heads up to those looking for a guidebook. Checkout www.theatguide.com

I’m looking forward to seeing the 2011 guide book. AWOL does great work and I’m sure this one will not disappoint.

IDK ~ there were a few hikers this past season who were screaming “AWOL” at the top of their lungs over some questionable topo maps ( then again, when you’re tired and your looking a squiggling lines, we can all misjudge. ) For those of you who have read to dissect your book and mail parts ahead, DO NOT TAKE APART YOUR BOOK. Having done that and missed a pickup at a Post Office, I was left hanging for valuable intel. Slap some duct tape on the spine and carry the whole book ~ you will not regret the little bit of extra weight in your pocket in exchange for much needed information. Happy Hiking to All and a Very Merry Christmas %)
