Winter before a thru-hike is the perfect time to start planning/dreaming about the hike. Get your maps, rough out a schedule, plan your resupplies, get your permits, start training, recruit a friend to handle logistics back home, etc. Sometimes I like planning the hike as much as the hike itself.

Absolutely agree with bowlegs. Planning and dreaming gets me through the winter. Last year it was planning for the Colorado Trail. This winter, I’ll be planning for a portion of either the AZT or PCT in late spring.
This forum helps so much with the winter blues. Although, I see even more snow packing this winter.
Have fun everyone with your planning
