Thru-Hiking Partner Needed, Spring 2002

Hi! I am planning a thru-hike for this spring when I graduate from the University of Michigan. I am looking for an enthusiastic partner for companionship along the trail (also for safety reasons as a young woman on the trail). Hiking the AT has been a dream of mine for years and I am very excited to finally chase the dream after four long years of school. Send me an email if you are also in need of someone to hike with! Hope to hear from you soon!

I think trying to find a partner to start with is a great idea, but if you don’t end up finding one before you start, don’t let it keep you from starting. I am a 28 year old female, I just completed a thruhike, mostly by myself. There are so many other people hiking, you will meet people on the trail and at shelters, I was never alone unless I wanted to be.

I would suggest you start out alone as you may find you recruit a partner who you are not compatable with and may find it hard to split later on. I saw many females start out alone who soon hooked up with compatible companions and ended up staying together.

You will have lots of opportunities to find a partner on the trail, good luck!
