Tick-borne cooties

Are there any useful or best strategies to at least reduce the odds of getting the tick cooties while on the Trail, such as Lyme, erlichiosis, & etc.? I’ve thought about using permethrin spray on my convertible pants and or/gaiters. Has anyone used this stuff or learned any lessons on the Trail that would have made them take better precautions against the little blood suckers?

I use permethrin on most everything not waterproof/breathable,and it seems to work.A good inspection every day is a good idea inasmuch as they need to stay attached quite a while to transmit disease, although I do admit I don’t always do it.I got lymes disease in 02,and believe me you don’t want it.It was caught very early, but I have residual problems that are not improving. It’s best not to get it.Good luck Oo
