I pulled one tick off one of my socks in NorCal. At AT is far, far worse for ticks, I think. I didn’t do anything special to keep them off of me.

We inadvertantly took a blue blaze on the Pct and were covered … I mean we were running, stumbling to get the heck back to the trail ! i\I must have pulled 20 or 30 off of me and I was last in line… the poor guy in front…

I never heard a peep from anybody on the trail in 03 about tick problems.

I ran into only a few ticks crawling on me on the PCT. But let me tell you one thing - don’t let anyone tell you that it is impossible to get Lyme disease from ticks in California. I recently found out that I have Lyme disease and it was most probably from ticks that bit my on the Northern California coast about 2 years ago. Some people believe that Lyme only exists on the east coast - that is not the case.

If I remember right we close to big Bear…it wasn’t very far into the trail The desert in general… at least for me has been full of ticks ! I pulled 75 off my dog in 1.5 hours last spring along the Snake river trail . Let me tell ya… I was close to freaking… It was SO gross…I don’t wanna scare ya but I pulled about 50 off me that same night… Yes, it was probably my worst night ever on any trail.
