TJ vs. WB - Appalachian Trail

Trailmix,

I have been both a non-paying, and a paying, member of WB. My posts–including those of a political nature in the appropriate political section–were treated the same regardless.

Same as here on TJ.

IMHO neither site is real heavy on censorship, unless you write something so outrageous that it causes irreparable harm or violates TOS.

I’m a member and have had stuff deleted for a lot less than what L.Wolf spews, and he’s not the only one at WB that gets away with it, guess the Mods have their friends to look after. The folks here taking up for WB are just Trolls from WB.
I too question the experience of anyone at WB and would question any advice given. I guess thats why more non-hiking topics are talked about.

On almost all of these hiking websites you have folks who have walked the walk, and then you have people who have walked a little, and others who are just wannabes—they mostly just talk the talk.

Some of the most frequent posters on WB, TJ, etc. have done quite a bit of long-distance hiking, including one or more hikes of the entire AT. Their experience gives them the credibility to speak on these topics. Quite a few have learned a lot from them.

There really is no need to start pitting WB vs. TJ or any other site. Some of the same people participate in all of them.

I have never had a post deleted at WB. Must be because I respect the site rules. Retroman stated that he has had posts deleted. I will commend Retroman for deciding that WB was not for him. I’m sure he is right. Tell us where you get/give advice? I’d love to check it out.

Retroman a.k.a. Mechanical Man is pouting because he was scolded by WB admin to quit posting on and one about a subject. The thread was closed and he picked up his toys and left. No he’s slamming WB here and on Trailplace.

those who are squawking about TJ this and WB that must be bored. Stop talking about all of us old armchair hikers and go out and hike yourself. I am a member of both communities, I like most posts on both sites and ignore the issues that I don’t. Being a paying or supportive member doesn’t get you any big privileges. Other then the good feeling you get for helping to keep good sites with tons of hiking info going. – Jan’s right look for the positives and move on. All that said this old gal even find time to hike…:girl

How many AKA’s can you have? Stir the **** all you want. Agitate all you want. I find it funny. How about doing something positive instead of worrying about your image on some imaginary website.
