I didn’t have my camera with me at the time, but in 1999 in Erwin, there was a sign in front of a church that read:

“Our god is alive. Sorry about yours.”

I still don’t get it, but it’s funny!!

the church sign was probably a ref. to a very old slogan from the 1960’s … “God is dead”. It was popular as a way of saying that old “un-hip” (or “un-hippie”) ways of being were all going to fade away. They didn’t, but hey it was the '60’s. :cheers
