This is difficult to begin, but here goes. On Thursday Feb. 10th Dragonslayer was caught in a terrible car accident on her move to Augusta, GA. The Dr.s are now confident that she is going to pull through but there were times of question. She is currently in ICU and is scheduled for surgery on Mon. If there is anyone who knows her from her 2004 thru hike and would like to send they’re regards to her family just drop me some mail.

Please tell Dragon Slayer that we’re all thinking of her! I was with her off and on during our '04 AT hike.

You’re a tough girl Slayer!! If a dragon can’t stop you no car can! (Maybe you should change your name to Car Mangler)

I don’t know her but just hope that everything turns out well and that she is feeling better soon.

This is info that I received from a close friend of Slayer from home. I thought I should post it to inform those of you concerned with her health. This is all I know but when I learn more I will post it then. Keep her in your thoughts.

“We don’t know when she is going to be out of ICU I think that
is going to depend on tomorrows surgery. She sustatined severe head and facial injuries from the accident. They performed brain surgery immediately after the accident on Thursday and came to the conclusion that she has no brain damage. As of Friday she has had trouble breathing from her facial injuries so tomorrow they are going to put in a 10day temporary trachea. I don’t know when she is going to be able to recieve phone calls, believe the drs. are still keeping her sedated. I will pass along your wishes and love to her and her family. Thanks for your help and support it means a
lot to me.”

I was hit by an 18 wheeler on my motorcycle… first I was suppose to die, then never walk again… Since then I have hiked the AT plus another 3,000 - 4,000 miles.

Your own personal determination and strength will get you thru… One day you will be up and walking again… Sending goodvibes from Eugene Oregon…

Peace

Hey guys just found out how she was doing as of last night. Her surgery went well on Monday but they decided to only put in the trachae and not do any reconstruction. Monday night was a tough night for her but on Tue. she had her best day so far. It was the first time she has actually been awake. Because she was doing so well the dr.s decided to put off reconstructive surgery unitl today. Once again when I hear more I will let everyone know.

HEY Y’ALL. I just happened upon this today. WOW. As Slim & Biscuit would say, “it’s wicked cool” finding out how many people care about you. (As it were, Earth Artist was never part of my relief effort.) I can’t tell you how much your sentiments mean to me, even now as I find them after I am well recovered from the accident. I have been at home since Early March. My everyday activities are back to normal (I have found it convenient however to transfer my no makeup/no shower hiking schedule into recovery time, ha ha!) I’m even driving again! Oh the world is good. Life is spectacular. But you have found that out already on the Trail, right? What a small margin I beat out to be in a such a happy place today – thanks to you for being my support system. Watch out TRAILDAYS! I’m a comin’… I love you all. I’ll be talking to you soon.
