Ive been debating weather systems,I need feedback on theses choices.a 9oz longsleeve microfleece(MH),a 7oz down vest(featherd friends) and finnaly a Mt.hardware Epic jacket at 11oz.This all together adds up to 26ozs and should cover any situation but seems a little excessive. My other option is drop the fleece for a long sleeve sun shirt and get a Marmot meteor jacket(little warmer and hevier) than epic.Am i obsessing to much about ounces?I really wanna keep the down vest as it will double as pillow(gotta have one).I see the fleece as more of a comfort/town item but would work well with the others,if 1.5 pounds isnt excessive weight for clothes. In addition i will have shorts,t shirt and either rain pants or spandex leggins(and lots of socks). Thanks for any replys

It would be impossible for another to give you valid advise as to the level of comfort that YOU actually need. Different people have different comfort levels where it comes to cold. Your system sounds very reasonabe both for heat and weight. What you need to do is try them out in as extreme conditions as you can find while being near a place to bail out if they do not work. As I said it sounds good but test it to make sure.

For what it’s worth, the Meteor Jacket is GREAT! I carried it on the PCT in Oregon and Washington in 2003. Breathes great, kept me warm and dry. And it dries FAST after the rain stops.
