Too much snow for Holy Cross

Hi there, I’m thinking of doing Turquoise Lake to Half Moon Creek near Leadville this weekend. The hike includes a 1000 ft elevation gain. Does anyone have a feel for how wise/unwise this would be given current snow conditions in the high country?

I was up near the Continental divide today 6-15-11 and was postholing in 5-10 feet of snow. Above 11,500 there were no areas that I could see the ground. However I was about 60 miles to the north and east as the crow flies. Near Rollins Pass. So possibly it will be better near Turquoise Lake. The Ivanhoe snowtel report shows 6 inches of snow as of today. Chapman Tunnel report shows no snow. You will probably be good to go.

I was up there last week. 3’ of snow at the trailhead then. Abouve treeline may be clear in some places, but the snow lingers a lot longer in the forest where the tress block the sun.
