Can anyone provide some info on Trail Angels - anyone with experience as such? I’ve been a maintenance crew member, and also hiked a few parts of the trail, mainly from Winfield area down the Collegiates to near Salida, but am interested in doing a couple of weeks this next summer as a trail angel…any particular places this is needed most? What do the hikers need most often in the way of supplies, etc, that a trail angel can provide? Any info from anyone relevant to the subject would be appreciated…Thanks very much!

I cannot man Lujan Pass the full 2 months next year by myself and desperately need some help! If you could help for a week or 2 it would make a big difference. My personal opinion is that hikers need cold drinks foremost (purified water too), a chair to sit in, some salty and sweet snacks , and some shade. Of course, if you want to provide something more like burgers you will be much appreciated! I have had a few emergencies when I needed to take folks to the hospital but none this year! I have angelled at Marshall Pass, Angel of Shavano, and Spring Creek Pass. Lujan is the best. It even has ATT and Verizon cell coverage too. I will gladly provide chairs and shade. Lots of folks said they would like to help so hopefully they will chime in. Apple in Ohio

Thanks very much for the info on trail angeling…I was signed up for the trail maintenance crew at Lujan Pass last summer, but had to cancel. I should be able to provide a couple of weeks of angeling next summer…will be back in touch as we get closer, re: dates, location, etc. Thanks again.
