Trail Conditions in Ansel Adams Wilderness

In late August I am planning a short 3-day hike/loop out of the Rush Creek Trailhead (June/Silver Lake area)heading up to Waugh Lake and Island Pass area. But a friend of mine just got back from a trip to out of Mammoth to nearby Ediza Lake and said the mosquito’s were terrible, the creeks were running waist high and the snow at and above approx. 9,600’ was still very deep. I was just wondering if anyone has been thru the Island Pass area recently and can give me a reading on current trail conditions. Thanks!!

I just got back from the JMT and the trail conditions were fine in that area. The mosquitos were bad in some areas but not so bad in others. Snow wasn’t bad at all. I say go for it! (bring DEET)
