Trail transport-damascus

Im planning on doing a multiple flip flop starting in Damascus in early april if possible. Ive noticed that there is no train or greyhound service to this area. Can anyone recommend a way to get there from, say Raleigh/durham airport? Is there a more accessible trail town nearby from which I can start this flip flop?

There’s a Greyhound station in Abingdon, which is a short drive from Damascus. Very easy hitch, I didn’t even get my thumb out before I had a ride (thanks again Lone Wolf!)
