Just a note to anyone hiking north on the trail in Ma. the section after you cross west sheffield road(second road after shays rebellion) you go thru some wooded area and swamp lands a section of this is under water over my boots the planks are there but not built up high enough.this is just before the railroad crossing. also misquitos are awful at shaker campsite.
just wanted to let you know cause wet boots = wet feet which makes for nasty blisters i learned this the hard way

I went thru this section last August and the trail was flooded really bad then as well. The maintaining club had posted the trail as closed I think and rerouted you around on roads to US7 (??. It added an unwelcome road walk but I guess it was the better move in the long run. I also remember the bugs as being really bad from Jug End Road to Dalton. The bugs suck but it is all part of the trail. I wouldn’t have it any other way :smokin
