I just researched another idea, KDUR RideShare via www.KDUR.org (scroll to near bottom) but learned that RideShare is dormant until Fort Lewis College begins their fall semester around end of August. During semester, though, RideShare may help score a ride Durango to Denver.

Hitching from Durango to Denver might be fairly easy. Common for Durangoans to drive to Denver. Maybe hitching from a good spot on Hwy 160 in/near Durango, with a “Denver” sign, might secure a long distance hitch.

Frontier and United have several flights between the two locations each day.
Greyhound runs the roads, but the schedule is over 24 hours long and inconvenient time-wise. Big layover between buses.

My wife and I will be hiking Seg 18-24 starting July 30. Post-hike, we plan on spending a couple days in Durango before returning through Denver. We should have room for 2 more and the timing might work out.
