Does anyone have any ideas for transportation from Durango to Denver? The Greyhound no longer runs in Durango and plane tix are $210…
The only other option we can think of is renting a car… Any ideas? Thanks!

Go with the car rental. The only means of public transportation out of Durango at the present time is via air.
When you get into Durango there is a free trolley service that will take you to Wal Mart. There is a Avis rental near there. If you use a different rental company you will probably have to go to the airport to pick up the car. That requires an expensive taxi ride.
About the cheapest one way air ticket to Denver is $133 on Frontier and those have to be booked a month or so in advance.

I haven’t decided yet how to get out of Durango once I arrive.
I’ll probably not decide until I get there and then my choices will be to fly, rent a car, or hitch to Grand Junction and catch the greyhound from there. I’ll evaluate my options when I get there.
Would it be helpful for people to post their Durango contact info on this board when they arrive (any internet cafes in Durango?) so people could hook up and split rental cars? There are probably only a few cars available for one-way rentals but it might work out for a few people at least…
As for myself, I’m starting on Monday from Waterton and very loosely expect to be in Durango mid/late August. I also get good rates through my company discount.
