Transportation from WA PCT to Seattle Airport

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to hike the WA PCT from US 2 to WA 20 in mid-August, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about how I might get from either trailhead to the Seattle Airport after finishing. I’m willing to hike in either direction unless someone recommends otherwise.

Also, are there going to be any difficult stream crossings in that section during the time frame I’m looking at?

Thanks, all!

Check out www.nwhikers.net, the best place to find info on conditions in the Seattle area. You might find someone who will do it for the price of gas.

Hi Spielberg-

The closest towns to Rainy Pass, where the PCT comes out, are Winthrop and Twisp, WA, both east of the pass. This is a popular recreation area in the summer, so you could potentially hitch a ride back to I-5 where you can easily get a bus or train from Mt Vernon. Otherwise, I recommend looking further into bus options, but as I recall they are pretty limited from Hwy 20.

You will have more transportation options if you hike SoBo and end at Stevens Pass/Hwy 2 as Everett is at the junction of I-5 and Hwy 2. You can catch a bus into Everett from Monroe, WA and then a train or bus to Seattle.

As for stream crossings, it depends on what route you plan on taking through Glacier Peak wilderness.
