If you want the full, long-winded, accurate version, I suggest you go to Whiteblaze.net and do a quick search for trashgiving 2007, where Jack very eloquently explains.

In short a bunch of folks get together annually the weekend after thanksgiving for an intimate (much smaller than traildays/gatherings) hangout/turkey feast/maybe a hike or some trailmaintenance/booze fest. The folks from Billville (look that one up to) organize it, though all are welcome and encouraged to attend. I hope to be there!

A-Train had it pretty much right. Trashgiving is our annual re-creation of Thanksgiving; this year it’s the weekend after Thanksgiving and will again be held at the Hiker Hostel just off the A.T. in Glencliff NH. Basically, we get together with friends; some people hike, some do Trail work; a few of us who enjoy it do the cooking. Any and all are welcome to attend; there’s an extended thread on the festivities if you go to Whiteblaze.
