Trip to Baxter State Park

Hello to any past thru-hikers, their families/friends, and family/friends of current thru-hikers! I am trying to start doing a little research into visiting Baxter State Park to meet up with thru-hiker Rusch Hour around early to mid-September. I am hoping to get some info. on how best to plan my trip out there. Has anyone made the trip that can give me some tips? I plan to fly into Bangor and go from there. Any suggestions on shuttles/hotels/rental cars/etc? Thanks for the help!

If you are going to rent a car the best idea is to travel to Millinocket and stay probably at the A.T. Inn. The guy who runs it, Don, is very nice and super chill. From there it is probably a 20 minute drive to the park. Staying at Katahdin Stream campground would be difficult since reservations are probably all taken already. But you can park right at the bottom of Katahdin and either go up with Rusch Hour or meet him at the bottom after he summits.
Tell him Nokia says hello. i saw him right after you visited with him in Harpers. Good Luck.
