Squeaky has just over 700 miles left to do of his Triple Crown before 31st Dec this year, He has spent the last few days with Dr. Bob and David Horton on his journey south. He is in very good shape and hoping he keeps ahead of the bad weather.

Stef:

Other than taking a rest, has your Son talked about his plans for after his hike? Will he plan on a speaking circuit? Is he taking photos along the way? Is there another adventure planned?

Thanks for the update.

Stef,
Is Squeaky doint all three trails in on consecutive hike? I couldn’t tell if he was doing it in three different ones like the 2003 AT and 2004 PCT then a 2005 CDT hike or not.
I ask because I am attempting to thru-hike the Triple Crown in one consecutive hike plus the International Appalachian Trail. I could use any and all kinds of current trail info and when he finishes I’d realy like to speak with him if he’s willing.
Good luck to Squeaky on his Dec. 31st finishing date.

He did it all in one year - 8 months actually.

Hi Seth, He has done it all consecutively starting on the 4th May this year doing the PCT, then the CDT and now the AT, lets hope the weather does not cause to much hassle on his finishing miles.

Stef,
Thanks. Would it be possible for me to set up a time to speak with him about his hike so I can get some ideas on reforming my strategy. He’s only the second person to ever accomplish the Triple in under a year, I only know of Brian Robinson doing it otherwise. Therefore I could use his experience to make sure I don’t over or under do anything.

Thanks

Yes I do not think it would be a problem to have a chat to him, we are flying over there on 22nd of Dec and meeting him at Springer so when I speak to him I will let him know you would like some advise.
I will email you will our home number but we will be in the States until 9th Jan.
I am not sure where you are but we are staying at the Amicalola Falls Lodge over Christmas.
If you want to email me at my address I will pass on to Matthew your number.

So how many hikers (and who) can claim completing the Triple Crown in a single season?

I believe there only has ever been one person to do a Triple Crown but not consecutively and in 300 days and that was Flying Brian. Squeaky hopes to finish in one Calendar Year starting this year on 4th May and finishing before end Dec 2005. Squeaky has already in his Triple Crown Attempt broke the speed record on the PCT and set a new one on the CDT , now finishing the AT soon will be the Triple Crown.
